The story so far

St Romanus was lost in January 1968 with all 20 men aboard. She was one of three Hull trawlers lost that winter. This entry is a place to preserve a family connection with care, alongside the historical record. Published accounts give differing dates for the loss; January 1968 is used here pending further checking.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE VESSEL

1968 memorial crew list

20 men recorded as lost in 1968. This is the memorial loss list, not every crew member who ever served on the vessel.

Spellings follow the contemporary memorial-service catalogue; some later memorial transcriptions differ. Corrections supported by family documents are welcome.

Vessel sources & research

Researched October 2026. This is a growing vessel record. Crew-list coverage and dates are explained above; a name’s absence is not evidence that someone never served. Corrections and documents are welcome at info@hessleroad.com.
